More unusual grapes? Funky vinification techniques? Keen to see the new side of California ? This is the mixed case for you - 2 bottles of each as a pack of 6, or 4 as a pack of 12.
Tendu white 2016 1 litre - almost 100% Vermentino, from a warm site and produced by the great Steve Matthiasson. This Italian variety does rather well in warm California - lots of lillies and kiwi fruit, white flowers and a chalky finish.
Donkey and Goat Stone Crusher Roussanne 2017 - a full skin contact Roussanne that spent 13 days on skins prior to pressing. A masterclass in skin contact whites. Floral tangerine and orange peel, as well as some apricot skin. Very delicate and exotic on the palate with nice grip and really pretty, perfumed apricot fruit. Such a thrilling wine. 95/100 “ Jamie Goode
Calder Wine Co Charbono 2015 - Charbono? A rather obscure variety otherwise known as Bonarda, originally from the Alps. As purple as you can get, but only 12% alcohol. Medium- to full-bodied, abundant with black cherry and ripe plums, interlaced with dark spice, minty earthiness, and top notes that lean toward the floral. There’s a savoury density on the palate to match its bright fruit, finishing with a bit of grip.
